Driver education can reduce the number of deaths because it educates many people on the proper way to drive. It is important to drive safely in order to keep everyone safe, not just the driver. By learning how to drive safely, it can keep everyone safe and make the world a better place. Driver education should be required for all drivers, and safety on the roads should be required for everyone. By teaching people the basics of driving, it requires people to take responsibility for their actions. If something was to happen, driving school would hold everyone accountable. A person cannot claim that they did not know a rule, when they went through a course. Driver education can teach people everything about safety, including car safety within the vehicle. Driver's education should establish all the basics of owning a vehicle especially if a person is a new driver. It should ensure that the driver knows how to change a tire, jump a car, and understand all the car mechanics such as what all the warnings on the dashboard are. Driver education should also be required for all drivers. Most people’s parents teach them to drive, but a majority of parents might not be aware that they are driving poorly. Driver education would ensure that everyone has the same experience and education. Because driver education should be required, it should be free as well. This means that everyone has the option to learn how to drive. By requiring driver education, it would allow everyone to be safe. Driver education should also teach people the correct way to be a pedestrian. For example, crossing only in a crosswalk or walking on the correct side of the road. Everyone can benefit from driver education, which can keep the world safer.
What steps can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving?
The steps that can be used to reduce the number of deaths while driving is ensuring that people remain driving the speed limit. There are usually law enforcement officers on the road to try to stop speeding, but unfortunately it is not working. I believe that there should be stricter laws on speeding to stop deaths. A majority of deaths happen because of speeding, whether it’s running over a pedestrian or hitting another car. In addition, I believe that cars should not be able to hit high speeds as well. By forcing people to go the speed limit could really help bring down the death toll. Another thing that could stop deaths is being on phones in the car. I understand that there are laws prohibiting phones, yet every stop light people are on their phones. I believe, as well as speeding, should have stricter laws. Phones should not be able to work, unless to call emergency services, if a person enters the car. By reducing speeding and phones, less deaths would be prevalent in society.
Have you ever had an experience of being in a car accident or have seen your friends or family members driving irresponsibly?
I have never experienced a car accident because I am very cautious but I have witnessed one of my very good friends get into a crash. She was turning across 3 lanes of traffic to go to the other side. She was turning into the median to safely go into the next lane, but unfortunately she didn’t see the guy in the yellow lane about to turn into the same place she was leaving. As he switched in, she pulled out, slamming into the front of his truck. She was in a car so she took most of the impact. Her hands were burned by the airbag, she was bruised, and had lacerations on her body. The experience made me an even safer driver, because she was in a lot of pain. Since then she still continues to drive unsafely.
What steps can you take to be a better and safer driver as well as help others become safer on the road?
I can watch out for not only my own driving skills but for the lack of others. I can make sure to stay off my phone while driving, as well as driving the speed limit. I can make sure that I always keep my eyes on the road with no distractions. I can help others by making sure I obey every rule and keep the law in mind even when I am bored and in a rush.
