Importance in Drivers ed
Driver education is an important factor in reducing the number of deaths from driving. Drivers ed spreads awareness of what can happen if the driver is not paying close enough attention. Sometimes, people need visuals or example to comprehend why they should or should not do something. As a result, drivers ed is a class for that exact reason. If people see reckless or careless driving causes accidents, injuries, and deaths, they are more likely to not drive safely.
There are many steps a driver can take to reduce the number of deaths due to driving. First, they can take a drivers ed course, as many are offered in high school. Once enrolled into the class, pay close attention to the laws and rules of driving. After that, participate in a “Behind the Wheel” course. This gives drivers experience on the road after completing the written test with an experienced instructor. Once you take this course and have received a permit or license, be a very defensive driver. Always pay attention to the surrounding environment, leave any distractions with a passenger or don’t bring any (cell phones, food, etc.), and have the music turned down so you can hear for any necessary sounds that could be present.
Over the past seventeen years, there have been occasions where my friends and/or family members have been driving irresponsibly. There was a time once when I was with a friend who was on her phone while she was driving. I noticed what she was doing, and quickly told her she should get off her phone before something terribly wrong happened. She said she was looking at the directions because she was unsure of the directions to get to where we were going. I said nicely that she should give her phone to me, or one of the other people in the car, so that way she was one hundred percent focused on the road. She did just that, and I was proud she listened to me and that I said something.
In order to become a better and safer driver, I need to take driving seriously. If I use the proper signals and follow the rules and laws, there should be no problem with being a safe driver. Also, cell phones are a big distraction in today’s world. I have a little space under my radio, which is where I put my phone, after I put it on do not disturb, so I don’t become distracted by it. A way I can encourage to be safer on the road is to encourage them to pay close attention to the road and put away any distractions away. This will hopefully decrease the amounts of deaths from irresponsible driving choices. The more people who drive safe will be a huge factor in this as well.
