Importance
of Drivers ed
Every
citizen who wants to drive must complete some sort of driver
education in order to obtain their license. The purpose behind it is
to educate the person on the rules of the road and teach them
everything they will need to know before driving ever takes place.
This is the most important phase of the learning experience in
driving, and is overlooked by many.

I
believe that all people who wish to receive a permit or license
should be very familiar with all of the rules of the road before they
are even allowed to get behind the wheel. This will prevent
accidents, mistakes, and deaths caused by reckless driving. If every
person on the road knew the rules and how to obey them, serious
accidents would be drastically reduced.
It
is pretty common for young teens to just glance over the rules and
get straight onto the highway with no experience or knowledge. Not
only is this a bad idea, but it can put your life at risk as well as
others. Many teens seem to feel invincible and over confident in
their abilities even with no experience. One example being texting
and driving, which can’t be spread enough. Texting and driving may
be the worst form of distracted driving, as it takes all of your
attention off of the road, and increases the risk of an accident.
From my own personal experiences, I believe that texting and driving
should be illegal, and should be a major focal point in driver’s
education.

Additionally,
I live in South Florida where the traffic is absolutely horrendous,
and the lack of driving knowledge is even worse. To be more specific
when driving through Miami, it requires full attention and some. So
many people are focused on being first and getting ahead of the
person in front of them that they are completely oblivious to their
other surroundings. Because of the lack of attention by many drivers
in the area, accidents are common. Although I have been lucky enough
to have not been involved in an accident, I have witnessed many and
been in a lot of close calls.
Lastly,
drivers ed is a very important if not the most important
part of the driving experience. Knowing what to do and how to follow
the rules is a very important part of safe driving. The more educated
that driver’s get, the less often that fatalities will occur. I
take it into my own hands to let anyone I can know when they are
doing something wrong, whether it be friends, family, or even
strangers. The more knowledge we can help spread about the importance
of safe driving, the less accidents will occur. I hope that this
essay has displayed a clear concern for driver’s safety and its
importance.
