When looking at making driving safer in America there are multiple factors to look at. However, I do feel that rather or not a person had gone through some type of drivers education is a huge factor of this. I feel that the reason it is so important for people to go through driver's education is because when I went through the program they were able to give me information that would have taken me years to discover on my own. People who do not go through the program actually do have to be driving for many years to gain this knowledge, and it can cause major accidents because of this.
I feel like the first step we can take in reducing the number of deaths related to accidents would be to first provide the driver education facilities with more funding so that they are able to give their students more hands on experience alongside an experienced driver. This will ensure the students confident in their driving abilities and may prevent more stupid mistakes from being made. Secondly, I feel that drivers education should be mandatory for all people, regardless of the age you are trying to receive your license at. I know many have issues with this because of the cost of drivers education, however if we made it mandatory for all people to take the cost will go down. Also regardless of cost if somebody cannot afford drivers education, then they also probably cannot afford to keep up with maintenance on the car that will keep them and everybody else safer overall.
I actually have personal experience that leads credence to the fact drivers ed contributes to safer driving for all people. I was involved in an accident myself. I had been driving at night down a side road, on my way home, when out of nowhere a deer comes running at my car. The deer hit the left side of my car and I began to spin. If it had not been for drivers education I would not have known how to get the car back under my control, and may have even died that night as a result. So while it did not prevent the accident driver education did save me from being added to the statistics of deaths related to vehicular accidents.
In the end, driving is always a dangerous thing to do and should be treated as such. When going out in a vehicle everybody takes a risk, and the best way anybody can stay safe is to follow the rules of the road, and be focused on their surroundings at all times. This is what I do to be a safe driver I make sure that all of my focus is on the road, I do not have any outside distractions, I ensure that my vehicle is up to date and I follow all rules of the road as I go along. I also prepare myself in case there are any unforeseen obstacles.

Driving may be an everyday thing, but that does not mean it is safe or easy.
