Being in a rush because you are running late is not a valid reason to speed and endanger the lives of you and other drivers. Your life is more important than responding to a call or text. Being patient and aware of these things can lead to safer roads as these easily preventable distractions are eliminated. The driver’s priority should always be to get where they want to go but in a safe manner for everyone. Impatience and distractions will only lead to bad situations for everyone involved; if something is that important then you should have left earlier or pull over to use your phone. No text, distraction, or need to not be late is as important as the lives of yourself and others.
Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is a significant danger to the safety of drivers everywhere. Alcohol related accidents alone claim nearly ten thousand lives a year, and marijuana users are twenty five percent more likely to be in an accident. As a society we must come together to ensure that drivers are obeying the laws more often, even if it means harsher punishments. Being at your utmost awareness is critical when driving because knowing or not knowing your surroundings could be the difference between life and death. It should be instilled at an early age that driving under the influence of anything is selfishly endangering others and yourself. It is important for everyone on the road to be giving their full attention without impairments because it benefits everyone.
A majority of vehicle related deaths are easily preventable, and we should work together and implement systems that are upholding the driver’s safety. Making people aware of how their own actions on the road affect others will open their eyes to what they do wrong and help them change their bad habits. Cars were meant for convenient transport, and millions of people use them everyday so it should be a priority to promote being a diligent and safe driver. Of course there will always be accidents as people are not perfect and make mistakes, but the number of accidents can be significantly diminished when we teach people how to be safer on the roads of today.
