Importance of Safe Driving

You’re driving down the highway, you see an
irresponsible driver speeding past you where all you can think of is
if he’s under the influence. Next thing you know it, you see an
ambulance and firefighters passing by, black cloud of smoke in the
air. That scenario was what I had to witness my uncle get into. He
was hospitalized for quite some time, but he learned his lesson since
then, lucky to be alive to this day.
What
people don’t realize is the importance of drivers ed, knowing
the rules and properly abide by state laws. Why you may ask? Well
because by not following the rules of the road, you’d be the cause
of deaths if you were to drive in an irresponsible manner. If we were
to enforce more drivers ed into the population, I know that
there would be a drastic decrease in deaths resulting from driving.
We can begin this change by being observant of reckless or
irresponsible drivers that roam in your area, report them to the
police and have them handle the situation. Furthermore, we can
reinforce the punishment of reckless driving or driving under the
influence, so that there won’t be a ‘next time’. We need to let
people know how bad it can be to make a decision to go out into the
road not knowing the laws. Not only by creating a ‘fear’ in
people do we reduce the number of reckless drivers, but we can also
create new technologies such as improving AI. We now see how there is
progress in self-driving vehicles, but another great alternative
would be having a speed cap on a car, where the car can detect
whether the driver surpasses the speed limit. Adding on, this
technology can attain sensors that refrains the driver from going off
their lanes and the car can re-adjust to keep itself within the lanes
avoiding any accidents from happening. It’s only the beginning, yet
there can be astonishing changes to improve driving safety to reduce
the number of deaths related to driving.
As
for myself, I believe that I can improve on my own driving education
and learn more about safety regulations on the road, preventing
myself from hurting others in the process of being on the road. Not
only can I improve on my own driving, but I can also be out to
promote the importance of safe driving to prevent deaths relating to
driving as well as seeing a decrease in deaths. Beginning with my own
family, I will branch out to reach into others in my community and
begin to influence others as well as they seek out to reduce deaths
upon driving on the road.
