In
the Driver’s Seat

I
remember the first time my dad took me to drive. I was scared of
learning it because I knew that it is something that could lead to
serious consequences if not done the right way. And it is not a thing
that I can control by myself, it also depends on all the other
drivers on the road and how we all react to the situations to come.
It is undeniable the importance of driving education in order to keep
a safe road for us all and future drivers.


Unfortunately,
I have been in an accident before while visiting my grandfather on
his farm in Brazil. My brother was driving and it was raining a lot,
the road was not good and an irresponsible driver came really fast
and to not hit him, my brother had to turn right really fast which
caused us to hit on a hill. Fortunately, both of us did not get
injured and there was not too much damage to the car, but it is never
a good experience and it marks our lives forever, and somehow it
turned into a good reminder of how we should behave. Although we do
our parts, we should always be prepared and hope that others do
theirs as well.

In
order to maintain everyone’s safety on the road and reduce the
number of deaths, some steps we can take are try to always have
someone else in the car that doesn’t drink and has a driver’s
license so that person can drive home after a party or a night out
when you drink. Adding taxi stands on the streets where a lot of bars
are located and also make sure that more “no texting while driving”
signs are added on the roads to always remember people this is
dangerous. Also, for the winter there should be more lights on the
road so drivers would be able to have a better sight of the road.


Being
a cautious and attentive driver in the United States is a really
important skill everyone should posses. It is always important to
remember that your life and the life of others around you are at risk
and any wrong action you take while driving may affect those lives.
If everyone does their part, driving will be less dangerous and the
roads around the country will be safer for you, me, and everyone
else.
