What
is the importance of drivers ed in reducing the number deaths
as a result of driving? What steps can be taken to reduce the number
of deaths related to driving? Have you ever had an experience of
being in car accident or have seen your friends or family members
driving irresponsibly? What steps can you take to be a better and
safer driver as well as help others become safer on the road?

As
a young driver, I know that when I first got behind the wheel, I had
a rough idea of what I was doing, but definitely did not know the
dangers. I thought it was fun, cool, freeing. I paid no attention to
the potential costs of unsafe driving. Increasing drivers ed is
incredibly important. The more that people are aware of something the
less probability there is for them to partake in such actions. The
largest step in decreasing deaths is reducing drivers distraction. In
this day and age, there are so many distractions from phones to other
passengers. In lessening the load on drivers to pay attention to
things other than the road, the risk of collision and unsafe driving
in general can be reduced. When I was 17 I totaled a car because I
was texting and driving. This experience has led me to always take
precautions when driving. Today I set up my music in advance, put on
my seat belt, make sure that if there are other people in my car that
they also have their seatbelts on, put my phone on silent, and make
sure the bluetooth in my car is working so that if there is an
emergency, I can click a button and pick up the phone, all before
taking the car out of park.
