Driver education has provided the ability for students to obtain a license in the future. It prepares them with lessons of changing lanes to what to do when there are emergencies. Teaching students to know when to switch lanes and when it’s their turn to go during a stop sign is important. Many accidents are caused because of turning at the wrong time and not paying attention to other vehicles when switching lanes. Driver education helps students, especially high school students, learn how to driver properly when they are on the road to keep themselves safe and others amoung them.
I, myself, have never been in an accident. But there have been a few times where I was close to one as a passenger. The driver was distracted and didn’t really care about how they were driving. Speeding by other drivers recklessly. Another time would have been when the driver I was with was distracted by his phone and trying to find the right song to put on.
Phones and emotions tend to affect the way we drive. We get distracted by both. While driving we should try to calm ourselves and pay attention to the road. For example, anger can lead drivers into speeding and not care about how they turn or how they switch lanes. Being overwhelmed with emotions can cause us to not see that one car or turning at the wrong time and colliding with another vehicle.
Phones are a huge problem when it comes to driving. When we get a text we get the urge to respond. When there is a phone call we are tempted to answer it. Scrolling through social media and changing songs. It causes accidents. Accidents that can lead to death. To prevent to usage of phones on the road, we could try putting our phones in the back seat. Wait to respond until you park. Put phones are airplane modes.
While driving we need to be careful and stay on focus. Get the phone away from you. If overwhelmed with emotions, pullover some where safe and take deep breaths. Just try to keep your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.
