“In the Mind Of A Safe Driver”

In America, 34,000 people die in road crashes each year. Deaths from car accidences are primarily caused by driving under the influence or distracted driving. Cars allow people to travel from point A to point B very quickly. Making sure that people make it to their destination in one piece should be a top priority. Drivers ed can help people develop an understanding of how to drive safe.

The importance of drivers ed is very important in reducing the number of deaths as a result of driving. Without drivers ed, people would be clueless about the signs and rules of the road. In most cases, experience would be the only way to become educated on driving and often times, experience would mean that the driver was in a crash or was close to being in a crash. Drivers ed allows for drivers to develop an understanding for situations without having to go through them.

In order to reduce the number of deaths related to driving, there are some steps that must be taken. One way to reduce the number of deaths related to driving would be to better educate drivers on the importance of staying focused while driving and to drive according to the weather conditions. Another way would be to cut down on the amount of distracted driving and driving while under the influence.

In my experience, I have thankfully never been the driver in a car accident. However, I have been the passenger in a car that struck a deer. The driver thankfully did the right thing and didn’t try to swerve and therefor avoided the possibility of a rollover. Unfortunately, the vehicle couldn’t stop in time and we collided with the deer, severely damaging the front end.

Some steps that I can take to be a better and safer driver would be to drive defensively and to never be in a hurry. Driving has proven to be a very dangerous yet very necessary means of transportation so in order to ensure me and my passenger’s safety, I must stay focused and do my best to follow all traffic laws and constantly be aware of my surroundings.

In conclusion, people should remain focused and drive defensively in order to remain safe on the road. Making sure that drivers are educated about how to drive in certain situations can also be very important. Driver education is a crucial part of driving and without it traveling from point A to point B would be incredibly dangerous.
