Driving
is a privilege not a right. Teens in todays society continue to
disregard the dangers that they bring to the road. Although you might
assume you can answer a text quickly, drive intoxicated, take your
hands off the wheel for a minute, you’re wrong. Not looking at the
road for one second could result in the most life changing
experience. My sophomore year two girls passed away due to reckless
driving which altered my perception of driving.

Although,
many people say Drivers Ed is pointless and all the information you
learn is “common sense” this is not true. Society doesn’t
realize that we need to reduce the amount of lives that are lost each
year and that starts by you making choices that will affect others on
the road in a positive way. In order to reduce the amount of
accidents that occur we should install a system within your car that
prevents you from going over the speed limit, have phone providers
install an app that detects when you’re driving so it’s inactive
until the car is parked and have it be a requirement that the driver
must take a breathalyzer test and if your alcohol intake is over a
certain percentage your car will not let you drive.

If
you feel the need to answer a text, dm, call or snap right away then
pull over. Don’t ruin someone else's life or even yous over a text
message that you could have waited to respond to. If someone in your
car is being too loud or distracting ask them to calm down or drop
them off at home or somewhere on the road if it becomes a hazard to
your life and others. If you see someone who tries to drink and drive
offer to drive them home, call an uber or take their keys. Society
should value their own and the lives of others. Driving safely is the
key to saving lives and we should all want to do that and shouldn’t
have to be reminded of that.
