I have never been into an accident before, I try my best to always be a safe driver. However, I do know someone that was driving down the highway and fell asleep behind the wheel. They started to serve and they hit the metal guard rail. Their car crashed into the railing and flipped. Luckily, no one was hurt. It is just one of the many examples that happen on a daily basis. On average, there are 102 car accidents everyday. Practicing safe driving is the best way to prevent accidents.
To be a safe driver, you have to be aware at all times. You can not have distractions around you, it will take your attention off from the road. The biggest distraction in today’s world are cell phones. Using a cell phone while driving is extremely dangerous; it only takes one notification to distract you to get into an accident. Turning cell phones off and taking away other distractions will help you become a safe driver. Another way is to not drive under the influence. Alcohol and drugs impair your senses which makes you a dangerous driver. People are more likely to get into an accident while under the influence. To ensure everyone's safety, only drive when you are sober or find someone else who is. If you are behind the wheel and you start to feel tired, it is best to pull over and stop to rest. Pulling over eliminates the risk of falling asleep behind the wheel and losing control. If you also feel rushed, you should never try and shortcut your driving. It is better to be late then to rush and risk an accident. People who run late tend to drive faster and are not as aware of their surroundings. It is always important to look for oncoming drivers at stops and at lights. It is also important to stay the speed limit to stay with the flow of traffic, the limits are there for a reason. When you are in the driver’s seat, you are in control and you must be able to stay aware and be cautious. No one can be a perfect driver, but everyone can be a safe driver.
