Talk...Securing the Keys!
As
a young teen, I know how exciting it can be to finally receive a
permit let alone a drivers license. We are all so excited to finally
take hold of the keys and hit the road! But what teens need to keep
in mind is that is is just as important to inform your self and
others of the road rules as it is securing the keys. I remember
taking drivers ed course and thinking, man all these rules to
remember and all of these statistics are scary! Informing yourself of
road safety rules can help change statistics and most importantly
save lives, including yours. Taking a drivers ed course
reminded me it is just as important to learning road safety rules
just as it is riding to the mall, showing off my 02’ Corolla!
Let's
examine statistics, according to the National Driving and Traffic
School, an average of 34,000 people die each year as a result of
driving. How startling is that! As a nation, to help reduce the
number of deaths related to driving is to enforce a required drivers
ed course in each state. The drivers ed course should include
information on under the influenced driving, road and safety rules,
and accident prevention information. As the population increases it
will be a little harder to regulate driving fatalities, but with the
help of drivers and educators, it isn't impossible.
In
the last week, I have either witnessed or passed by 4 horrific
accidents. Being in the state of Florida during spring break, the
population drastically increases. Increasing every driver's
probability of being in a car accident. This has bought realization,
anywhere you go and anywhere you drive you always need to practice
safe driving. Another misunderstanding that is very common is,
although you are a safe driver you are still prone to accidents, as
other drivers may not practice safe driving. So it is important to
stay cautious on the road to prevent any deadly accidents.
To
ensure safe driving, starting with this essay, I am informing my
self, friends and family members the importance of drivers ed
and driving safely on the road. Besides, I couldn't flex in my 02’
Corolla if it was totaled because of reckless and unsafe driving.
