Life
is Short, There is No Need to Make it Shorter!

As
a young college student I understand the desire to fly the nest and
test your wings out in the real world. While this may seem like an
innocent endeavor, it can be a detrimental one in some people's
lives. Drivers ed can contribute to reducing the number of
deaths by informing drivers of the correct and safe practices.
Knowledge is power and the more knowledge that drivers have can help
them to make smarter and safer decisions when behind the wheel of a
vehicle. Practicing the right way to drive will create good driving
habits that the driver will have for the rest of their life. I also
think that by learning to be more aware of your surroundings can
contribute greatly to how careful of a driver you are. I think that
distracted driving can be dangerous no matter what the scenario. By
having a second person in the car that can tell you when you are
doing something wrong can help to keep you safer.

I
have just recently went to a wake for a peer from high school that
got into a car accident. This event really made me think about how
life is short and how death can happen to anyone at anytime in their
life. I have also had the experience of being in a car with an
irresponsible driver behind the wheel. Both of these experiences
reminded me of how delicate lives are. I think people tend to think
that they are invincible and rely too much on the car to stay safe.
By simply offering to text someone back for the driver or make the
driver aware if they make a mistake, in a caring way, will help to
avoid a tragedy that could have been prevented.
