In America, one of the highest causes of death is car wrecks. Around thirty thousand people die a year. There are things we can do to reduce these things from happening. Avoid distractions, Driving sober, and wearing a seatbelt.
When we drive we usually have distractions, one thing that is very common while driving is the use of cell phones. When you use a phone while driving, it puts a lot of people in danger. You have to look down to see your phone which means you stop looking at the road. In drivers ed the first thing they tell you is not to use your phone while driving because it not only puts you in danger but everyone else on the road too. There are alternative ways to talk to someone or text others while driving, since everything has gotten way more advanced.
Drinking and driving is way more common now than it was before. So many people have died from drunk drivers it’s unbelievable. There are so many ways to prevent this from happening. One is having a designated driver, one that has not had any consumption of alcohol. Another is staying over at a friend's house. It may seem easy to just get the keys and go but what won’t be easy is making your parents suffer through everything if something bad were to happen. Finally the last thing that can prevent this is to not consume any alcoholic beverages at all. We are old enough to know and be responsible to not drink if we know we are going to drive home. Just making smart decisions can save so many people's lives.
Every single time I get in the car my first instinct is to put on a seat belt. Well this is not the case for everyone else. We see this happen in movies and tv shows so we don't think it will happen in real life but it sure does happen. When you get in a wreck the thing that protects you from flying out the car is your seatbelt. When you get on a roller coaster you put your seatbelt on right? Yes, because you're scared of falling out. It’s the same thing for a car. Just imagine the car is a rollercoaster because just like you can fly off from a ride, you can fly out of the car. You can save your own life just by simply putting on your seatbelt.
