In California only, there were about 4,285 deaths annually relating to traffic in 2021. In the United States there are about 42,514 deaths as of 2022 relating to vehicle crashes. This number doesn’t only concern the people behind the wheel but the pedestrians walking by that could become a casualty as well. The driver isn’t the only one who have to pay the price but so do the people who get caught up in the accident. The rate of deaths have been had a sharp decrease and the number of deaths relating to vehicle crashes have stayed almost consistent over the years. Driver’s education ensures that the driver knows the proper symbols and signs set up throughout the streets and highways in order to prevent tragic accidents. Misinterpreting one sign can have the driver going the wrong way and end up colliding with another car or worse. There can be simple ways to reduce the number of car accidents. There are some programs for teens that their high school will offer then a Driver’s Ed course. If high school students are looking to get their permit soon taking this program if their school offers it will allow then to get exposure to the materials that are essential when avoiding accidents on the road. Not all high-schools will offer their students this or maybe a person who already graduated high school is looking for their licenses in this case there are other steps they can take. There can be online resources at your disposal for little cost or for free. Having a driver’s handbook for your state can also help you get familiar with the signs you see everyday in passing. While most driving laws stays similar across states, they can vary. When moving or going on a trip outside your home state make sure to do your own research about certain laws that apply to that state or what laws don’t. Some laws that are the same across the United States are texting and drinking when driving, growing up we often hear these phrases on the tv but can be easy to forget. People might get tempted to look at their phones when driving, wanting to respond back as quick as possible but these little mistakes can build up. Driver’s don’t have to be perfect, they only have to be responsible. Teenagers can turn towards their parents for advise, to drive under their supervision so they can correct them where they go wrong. If you do get a permit, make sure you truly know the material and didn’t rush through anything. Recently, at the beginning of the month me, my sister and mother got into a minor car crash when going home from school. It was at a red light when the car behind us continued driving bumping into us. Luckily, it was at a relatively low speed and the effects of the collision only lasted for a few days. After a few sessions at the chiropractor me and my family were cleared to continue as normal. However, when that car decided to continue driving so did the car behind it believing it was a green light. The driver behind us thought carelessly and because of it almost injured multiple people in the process. Only a year before my mom had been ran into when driving by another car. This one wanted to change lanes but failed to notice my mom’s car and as a result made a scratch along the side of the car with the rear door bent. This accident had my mom going the chiropractor regularly as they did injure her and had to ensure she was healing correctly. Irresponsible drivers have to realize the consequences of which their actions can carry. Drinking when driving is simply a foolish idea when your mind isn’t straight. In the United States 13,524 people are the casualty of a DIU in 2022. There are basic laws in place to prevent these accidents and all we have to do is listen to them. I plan on learning how to drive soon, and I want to learn the right way by following the steps I mentioned, grabbing a driver’s handbook, taking online courses, and having parents in the car supervising me all to ensure I am going through the steps correctly. I can advise my parents not to use their phones. This can be another step to secure the safety of those in the car and those around us. Most accidents can be avoided if we try to hold ourselves accountable for our actions and little mistakes we make and overlook.
