The
importance of drivers ed to reduce driving related deaths is so
that new drivers can be prepared for new and intense driving
experiences. Some experiences include driving through a city,
changing lanes on the interstate,or even leaving their phone in their
pocket. With drivers ed, new licensed drivers can keep their
focus on the road and feel more comfortable driving in different
kinds of traffic. If drivers stay focused without panicking, it will
decrease the amount of driving deaths significantly. Panic is a key
factor in many scenarios, as it causes someone to do without thinking
and cause accidents that could be fatal. With drivers ed, panic
could be suppressed and the driver can make better and more thought
out decisions.
Some steps that can
be taken to reduce traffic deaths is to better prepare drivers for
possible driving scenarios. It would be beneficial for drivers to
know how to drive through different weather conditions, how to pull
over for a police vehicle, or even what to do if a car crash occurs.
If the driver knows what to do in these situations, they can remain
calm and do what they learned, decreasing the amount of
driving-related deaths.

I have seen some
cases of irresponsible driving from friends and family. A few cases
of these moments include checking a phone while driving for texts or
calls, making jokes at the wheel, and speeding. I’ve been in a car
that had to pull over for speeding, but this has happened only once.
Some steps that I
can take to be a better and safer driver is to make sure that I have
no distractions from the road. Some ways to do this could include
making sure my phone is off or on silent, and keeping the radio off
or keeping the volume low for less distracting music. A way that I
can keep others safe on the road is to be a safe driver myself. If I
drove unsafely, I could be putting numerous lives at risk just by
distracting, let alone what could happen if I went out of control and
damaged something or injured someone. Another way that I could keep
others safe is by setting an example for those who are going to be
driving someday. My younger brothers will be driving within the next
four years, and I feel like I should show them what and what not to
do while driving, along with limiting any fears that they might have
before driving.
