Reducing Deaths Due to Driving

To reduce the number of deaths as a result of driving, drivers must drive for themselves and the drivers behind them. Meaning, drive how they would want the person in front of them to drive. For example, signaling before switching lanes or less short stops. These minor rules can result to major accidents if not followed.
Also, there is no harm in socially drinking and having a good time. I suggest that as a driver one should carpool instead on nights when there’s any drinking. A person should only drive when they are sober and functional. Before operating a vehicle, a driver should always be awake and aware. If there’s any reason a person is not feeling themselves, they should seek help before operating a vehicle. Once a driver is ready to drive, they should eliminate all distractions prior to sitting in the driver’s seat. This includes applying makeup, eating and practicing dance moves. Anything that can take attention from the road should be eliminated or postponed.
Having my license for four months prior to owning my first vehicle has been a challenge for me. I have been in a number of accidents within the first year of owning it. Thankfully none were life threatening but all could have been avoided. Each accident for me was a life lesson and after completing a defensive driving course I have been accident free.
Watching the road at all times and keeping distance is the key to avoiding trouble ahead of you. It’s important to pay attention to break lights and traffic that’s slowing down. All things on the road are sudden and if your eyes are not on the road for one moment things can be a disaster.
