The importance of drivers education in reducing the number of deaths as a result of driving, it educates new drivers on responsible driving. Knowing the speed limits, because they do change depending where you are in the city. If you are near a school you need to drive slower than when you are on a main highway. In smaller towns the speed limit changes if you are in the downtown areas. Knowing the rules of being a good and mindful driver and understanding why driving is a huge responsibility will make you a better and safe driver. Its not just about picking up your friends and going to the beach, many responsibilities are involved that people who have never driven before are not aware of. If you participate in drivers education you will be more aware and can prevent many traffic tickets and even accidents. Becoming a safe and knowledgeable driver is key in preventing accidents. Drivers education educates you on safe driving, and how to always be aware of your surroundings while driving. It teaches you how to parallel park your car when on a hill, to prevent it from rolling. You also need to keep many important steps to keep in mind to reduce the number of deaths related to driving. The most important one is not drinking and driving, not speeding and no texting . Many adults decide to drink at parties and then get in car to drive, this is the most dangerous thing you can do that will cost someone their life. No texting while driving, everything should happen before you start your car, you should call who you need to or text who you need to before you drive, everything else can wait. Distractions are also a big cause of traffic accident and many times results in deadly accidents. Texting is also a problem now and many drivers are doing it. I have seen drivers texting and barely looking up at the street or holding their phone with one hand and the steering wheel with the other hand. Its something that is shocking to see and I vow never to become that person. I believe all texting and calls can wait and unless its an emergency you should pull over to make a call or send a text.

A classmate of mine was recently hit by a drunk driver while on the freeway with his family. The drunk driver was on the wrong side of the freeway and hit my friend’s family car. They luckily all survived, but they all had injuries and had to be hospitalized. The school prayed for a full recovery for my friend and his family, we also prayed that the drunk driver never gets to do this again and that he is punished for his irresponsibility. Our classmate could’ve died, he would have not graduated with us this year because of someone being irresponsible and not taking driving and other peoples lives seriously. Its pretty upsetting to know that we can be killed by someone who’s chosen to drive drunk. I am nervous about driving, as I will be driving soon. Its really scary to know people do drink and drive and that I can possibly come across someone on the road that is drinking and driving. My mom has seen this and has called 911 to make sure the driver is pulled over and prevent them from causing and accident.

I am currently studying for my drivers permit, I want to make sure I know all the rules to prevent getting any traffic tickets and to prevent any accidents. I will not text and drive or even look at my phone while driving, it’s a big distraction that I do not want. I will always wear my seatbelt and require everyone in my car to wear their seatbelts, as I know some people that don’t like to use them. I will always keep safety in mind, because I always want to come home safely. I also noticed a lot of younger people are speeding and racing on the freeways, while swerving in between cars and how close they come to putting themselves and other innocent drivers at risk. I cant imagine driving at those speeds and risking my life or my loved ones, its reckless and irresponsible. I know if I am a responsible driver I will be showing my younger brother to be a responsible and safe driver. I want him to learn safe driving too, so I know I have to be an example for him.
