Imagine being the Father,
Mother, sister, brother, or best friend of someone who’s life gets
taken too early as a result of driving. The reality is that, with the
current number of automobile fatalities that America has, the
possibility is all too real. As a result, the importance of driver
education in reducing the number of deaths from driving is to lower
the possibility of automobile death reaching a beloved sister,
brother, or loved one in a person’s life.

While driving can become a
normal routine, it is important to emphasize that a person should
always treat driving with the utmost caution—as if it is there
first time driving each time. However, it is also important to denote
that not every car crash occurs from irresponsible driving; in my
case, my Father was driving in icy conditions when we lost traction
on the highway and nearly escaped being hit by a semi-truck driving
in traffic. I truly am blessed to be living because we ended up off
the side of the highway, as opposed to being in the middle of
traffic. Thus, it is integral to express the significance of taking
driving conditions that are related to weather into consideration
when making the decision to be a safe driver.

The process of becoming a
safer driver begins with making a self-commitment to never put
yourself in harms way. For example, I never answer texts or
notifications while I am driving because a split second of
distraction can be the second that causes disaster. Hence, when
everyone begins to make the same and similar self-commitments, the
roads will be able to become a safer place. The importance of being
cautions every time you drive is really an important factor in
becoming a safe driver because you start to become aware of the lives
that you, essentially, hold in your hands—whether it is your own
life, your passengers lives, or the lives of the surrounding cars you
are driving next to. Thus, remember to take into consideration the
precious lives that should be cherished the next time you are
questioning whether to read the notification you received while
driving.
