Safe Driving

Driver education is important in reducing the number of deaths related to car accidents because the more knowledgeable and aware the driver is, the less likely it is for them to be involved in an accident. Texting and driving is one of the major causes of car accidents. By breaking this habit, the number of driving-related deaths could be reduced vastly. Many drivers become too comfortable when they are driving because they feel they are experienced well-enough, but one can never know what would happen during a car ride. Even if you are driving safely, another driver very well could be driving recklessly, and if that is the case you would want to be as alert as possible to avoid being involved in an accident. I have never been in a car accident, and I’m not aware of any of my family members being in an accident either, however, my boyfriend was in a car accident that was caused by the other driver. When he called me he told me he had been T-boned on a main street in my town, I was very concerned at first, but relieved to learn he was unharmed. I have seen many of my family members and friends drive recklessly, whether that be texting, speeding, or driving very closely behind another car. Because I don’t feel comfortable when I am in the car with them, I do not do those things, not only because I wouldn’t want them to feel uncomfortable, but also because I don’t believe a life is worth a text message. I’m constantly encouraging the driver to drive safer if they are not already, and if I am not riding with them, I remind them to drive safe.
