When you are driving on the road, you are taught on how you should drive in situations and what to do to respect the rules of the roads. Yet every year, there have been more deaths in car crashes than any other thing. Many people have to remember that when you get behind the wheel, it is your responsibility on what you do or what actions you decide to take. Some forget about those consequences and continue to abuse their use of driving and can hurt those when least expected. That is why we should always remember that our actions can have big consequences when driving because it can either change your life or another’s life in a split second, and there are no redo’s.
There are many things you can do to also prevent these tragedies, but the main thing is to not get behind the wheel when you are under the influence of alcohol. Alcohol is the main reason behind many deaths in car crashes and the cause for them. It can be prevented if you use one of these options to avoid driving under the influence. First one is to try and call for a driver to take you home. There are many driving apps like Uber and Lyft, that can take others to their home or a place they need to go to, to avoid driving under influence and being safe for you and others in the process. There is also the choice to have one of your friends be a designated driver so that they can help you be safe and get you home without getting hurt. One more tip to be safer is to also get some sleep before driving since sometimes fatigue can play a crucial part in some car crashes when you are not paying attention to the road.
Fortunately, I have not had the experience of being in a car accident, but I have heard many stories from family that have been in an accident before. It all has been the same, with someone on the road not paying attention and hitting their car or bumping into the back of the car. They were either on the phone or were focused on something else other than the road. There was an experience where when driving back home, I saw a car start to drift off the road and almost fell into a ditch. I knew instinctively to stay aware of that car since I wouldn’t know what they would do or not. Mostly when in those situations, be aware of your surroundings as to avoid those kinds of cars.
Being a safe driver means taking precautions and also getting a good night's sleep to face the next day. Sleeping can be a problem as well for driving and never consume any alcohol when behind the wheel so you can keep others safe. It's also good to follow the rules taught to you at driving school and be patient on the road.
