To start off, I think it’s important to note how much work driver education already does. As a result of driver education, much of our country has the knowledge and capacity to be outstanding, safe drivers and without it, people across the nation would suffer the consequences of unsafe driving, resulting in a numerous amount of injuries and deaths. Although we often hear about driver education through television, social media ads, and book/magazines, times have changed and as a result of that, so should the means of out-reach. One way new information about driver education as well as tips for safe driving could be done is through virtual reality headsets, other simulated 3-D environments, or social media sites such as Instagram or YouTube, which is a way to make people interested in knowing more. It’s key to understand that these things, like what I stated above, could be new and innovative ways to spread the message of safe driving and how your life could change if you aren’t careful.
At this moment, I’m about to turn 18 years old and I’m planning on taking my permit test in February of 2021, and use my growing knowledge of safe driving to become a well-equipped and faceted driver. The number one thing we can do to reduce the amount of deaths related to driving is by increasing the age to receive a license to18. The highest number of car related injuries and deaths are between the ages of 16-17, so if we were to raise the age of driver’s licenses to at least 18, there’s a high chance that the amount of deaths would drop too.Luckily, I have never been in a car accident, but others in my family have, so I know what dangers unsafe driving can result in. But, through educating others and spreading the knowledge of unsafe driving, we could make a positive impact in reducing unsafe driving nationwide.
