Safe
Driving: Change the World

         It
is so important to see the significance of safe driving. Being an
educated driver is so relevant in today’s world. The number of
deaths related to driving or traffic accidents in America from
2005-2012 is almost seven times more than the number of American
deaths in the Vietnam War. I lost a very dear elderly friend to a
traffic accident last year, due to someone being uneducated and
reckless in their driving. This should not have happened and could
have been prevented by a proper education in driving and by that
person paying closer attention to their driving.

         Being
an educated driver can help you understand the rules of the roads,
which essentially leads drivers to be more cautious when making
common signals, turns, and other decisions in traffic. It goes
without saying that following basic rules while driving can help save
hundreds of lives. One should not have to be told to not text and
drive. Keep your eyes on the road and pay attention to yourself and
be aware of the drivers around you. Educate yourself on bike signals
so you can understand and know where the bikers will be turning.

         One
major way traffic accidents could be prevented is by drivers removing
all phone usage while driving. It is so dangerous to take your eyes
off the road for even one second. In that single second, you could
forget to break and slam into the back of another car and push them
into traffic. This one careless act can change the life of hundreds
of people. We can never truly know how our reckless actions can
affect others in a life-changing way.

         I,
myself, have been guilty of reckless and careless driving. Thankfully
no one was injured, but it did put into perspective the importance of
careful driving. When my dear friend, Albert, died from careless
driving, it opened my eyes to the necessity of being an educated
driver. It is a shame that it took the death of a loved one to open
my eyes to the issue. Our generation does not take educated driving
seriously, and due to this, I find it so important for parents and
educators to stress the importance of safe driving and caution to
their children and students.

         Take
time to pay attention to your driving and think about those around
you. Be more cautious and more careful.
