Some steps that can be taken to prevent or reduce deaths linked driving or to motor vehicles, is for drivers to remain alert and not distracted while they are on the road for instance not being on their phones or taking calls while driving, keeping their eyes on the road even when conversing with passengers and prioritizing their attention on the road. Another step can be to remain mindful and aware of pedestrians by remaining behind the crosswalk and stopping before it when making a stop at a red light. Maintain a reasonable distance between your vehicle and other drivers while on the road or at a stop to prevent collisions due to sudden stops. Avoiding driving or preventing others from driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is also a very important step to take in order to ensure you or others are able to drive safely from one location to another, as well as to remain at or under the speed limit while being out in the roads even if they don't seem or are usually not busy streets. Lastly, having authorities being more stern and watchful of drivers speeding and establishing cameras on highways and on streets where accidents are more commonly occuring to keep drivers in check and to have evidence of what really occurred for court cases.
Though I have thankfully never experienced being in a car accident or seen anyone I know in an accident, I once witnessed a collision happen in an intersection while I was taking an uber to school, where a lady driving with her kids in the back seat was not being cautious of her surroundings and drove into a car turning the corner of the street, thankfully nobody was injured but it was a very alarming experience for me. I also learned from one of my close friends that her father was involved in a car accident once because he had been drunk while driving, and her younger brother was in the car with him when it happened. There have also been several instances where I come across scenes in which cars are flipped over or badly damaged after the crash while on the highway with my family, as well as seen cyclists stopped at the side of the road seeming to be disoriented.
Some steps that I can take in order to be a safe driver and influence others around me to be safe on the road, is by making sure me and others around me know all the fundamental parts to driving and have gotten our drivers license, in order to feel safe and confident in our driving or while being driven by others. I can also make sure that myself or the person at the wheel is in a conscious state and not under the influence of alcohol or drugs or making sure that at least one of us did not consume any alcohol or drugs when out in group, or taking a taxi or uber when I am intoxicated while being out on my own. I can also make sure that I or others around me remain at or under the speed limit whether it is or isn't a busy street, so that I do not put myself or others in danger, or by being with someone who is putting me in danger.
Therefore, I believe that being taught how to drive and receiving driver's education is very important and essential for all drivers to have received because it can allow them to feel confident in their driving skills, making them aware of the fundamental parts of driving, to remain safe and maintain others around them safe, to make sure they are not distracted while driving, making drivers responsible and aware of their surroundings and people walking on the streets, and lastly, to prevent being in accidents that causes them or others surrounding them to lose their lives in a car accident.
