Drivers ed teaches the very basics of driving. It is important for any young driver to understand the fundamentals of driving in order to stay safe on the road. By understanding the signs and traffic laws taught by drivers ed, the number of deaths can be reduced because young drivers will understand the rules of the road. In order to reduce the number of deaths while driving, drivers need to keep themselves accountable. Driving is a huge responsibility, one that requires focus and caution. Drivers need to avoid speeding and playing on their phones in order to protect themselves and others. I was just involved in an accident 3 weeks ago. My friend and I were driving on the highway when a semi went to turn lanes, we must have been in the driver’s blind spot because he didn’t see us. All the sudden he hit the back of our car and we spun out in front of him. The semi then pushed us 250ft down the highway. My friend had glass shattered all over him and I banged my head against the window. It felt like slow motion, I was truly scared for my life. After we had finally stopped the semi driver ran to help us all out of the car and apologized about a million times. Other than a bunch of scratches and a few bruises we were okay. God protected us that day. I can become a better driver by slowing down, although I don’t do it often there are times, I go over the speed limit. I would encourage others to do the same because there is a speed limit for a reason. Also, to have safer roads drivers need to simply obey the laws. Young drivers are notorious for having more than one passenger in the car before they come to age. This is extremely dangerous. Due to their lack of driving experience they are more susceptible to make a simple mistake that ends up in an accident. If they obey the law, only one or two get hurt, but if not 5 or 6 passengers could really be injured. So, obey the traffic laws taught by drivers ed in order to keep the roads safe.
