Safety
behind the wheel


In
society the car has become the single most common method of getting
from place to another, yet to the citizen with the privilege to drive
it has become one of the most overlooked duties and often the most
boring part of the day after a long day at work. To the average
person working in a first world country driving has become such a
monotonous task that oftentimes they do other tasks such as eating or
(the most dangerous thing to do) talking over the phone. On average a
American driver spends up to 111 minutes total in a single day behind
the wheel and when a driver becomes overconfident over there driving
abilities and get sloppy it can result in fatal consequences for the
driver, passengers and at times bystanders.

In the
2018 40,000 people have died from motor vehicle accidents and
countless more have been seriously injured or handicapped.
Fortunately these numbers have been decreasing every year but that
does not mean we keep the same methods of informing and training our
drivers and most importantly our adolescent drivers. It is not just
teen fighters who are at fault for causing these accidents. Drivers
who are overconfident and sloppy during their commute to work,home
etc..are mostly to blame. Many believe that improving the training of
drivers will help decrease the numbers of fatalities dramatically
yearly, but the truth is that many other variables come into play
when someone is behind the wheel. Not only would better training help
but also reduce the amount of adolescents from driving very late as
it is well known that sneaking out past curfew is often done and
when this is done the driver overestimates their ability to drive and
begin to drive recklessly.

In the
end this problem cannot be resolved through just training it also
requires changes in habits like putting the cell phone away,stop
speeding and running red lights. With these changes in habits it can
help increase the safety of both the driver and the passengers on the
road. As a result we will have less motor vehicle accidents therefore
ending collisions and minimizing injuries and fatalities.
