Growing up everyone sees and is around cars even if you don’t own one. It’s the American lifestyle and has been a part of our culture for over 100 years. However driving a car can be very dangerous if the proper safety techniques are neglected. Even if you are operating a vehicle safely there is still the danger presented by other drivers. This makes safe driving a very important topic teens and all drivers should be educated on. Since safe driving is every drivers responsibility it is crucial to educate our drivers to make our roads safer. There are many possible steps to take help the situation.
Every year thousands of Americans die on the road in fatal accidents. This is the tragic reality and risk of driving. To decrease this number we must focus on education of new drivers and traffic technology. Every driver should take pride in safety and personally pursue education but this isn’t always the case. I recommend more in-depth safety training at the DMV as well as more informational materials. A large part of the problem is distracted driving which can be discouraged through the use of advertisements. Advertisements are very effective at targeting a younger audience. Traffic technology can be approved also such as more and improve traffic lights.
I have personally been in a few car accidents and both were not the party I was riding with fault. Both scenarios involve my mother being rear ended by another driver at a stop sign. What I learned from these events are too pay the most attention when stopping and slowing down. Another lesson I learned was to always be prepared for collision even when stopped.
There are many possible things to do if you are looking to be a safer driver. The first thing is education, find resources at the DMV or online to study. Reaching out to other drivers for discussion is a good way too. Next make sure you are familiar with your vehicle and its safety systems. The brakes are a very important part of the vehicle that needs to be serviced regularly. Next ensure before you drive all business is handled and you won’t get distracted while driving. It takes mental focus to drive safely and should get your full attention. If you make any mistakes while driving reflect on them after driving to see where the mistake was and learn from it. In conclusion driving safely is all about being educated and focused.
