A Life
There
are many accidents that could be prevented if people were more aware
of the rules of the roads. People speed and text while driving.
People don’t use turn signals, which confuse other drivers if it’s
a situation where they are switching lanes. People don’t pay enough
attention to the road to be safe and avoid accidents. This isn’t
just an issue with teenagers, or new drivers. If a person is in
control of a motor vehicle, they need to be aware of the rules of the
road and actually focus when they are driving.

People
need to stop texting when they are driving. People need to use their
mirrors as well as using turn signals. If someone is in one lane and
goes to switch lanes without using their turn signal, another driver
won’t know to slow down in order to let the person switch lanes.
Drivers need to focus less on the radio or other passengers in the
car, because when that happens, they put themselves and everyone else
on the road at risk of losing their lives. If someone is behind the
wheel, they need to make themselves be very aware of what they are
doing when it relates to drivers. Police officers can’t pull
everyone over who is texting and driving. More people actually need
to take responsibility for what they are doing when it could be a
life-or-death situation.
I
have personally been in one car accident. It wasn’t bad, because
the person whom I rode with had slowed down. However, another driver
pulled out in front of us, and the two vehicles collided. If the
other driver had paid attention to the road and judged the distance
between the cars better, that small accident could have been avoided
entirely. This is just one small issue people have when driving.
There
are multiple steps that I can take to make sure that I drive safely.
I can constantly check my speed to ensure that I’m not really
speeding. I can pay attention to the road and other cars more than
anything. Paying attention to other cars and being aware of those
vehicles is just as important as making sure you’re in the right
lane. As a passenger in a vehicle, I can also look out for the road
just to be an extra pair of eyes. That way, I could notice something
that the driver might miss. In addition to that, I can also talk to
inexperienced drivers to help them gain the knowledge to be a safe
driver, because when there are more safe drivers, more lives can be
saved.
