One of the biggest factors that help new drivers learn to be safe is Drivers ed. This program is specifically designed to acquaint new drivers to the road, teaching them how to react in potentially risky situations and how to abide by the laws involved with driving. Drivers ed requires its students to meet with professionals, knowing that parents cannot teach their children on their own. Parents may think that they can get by with just their instruction, but in reality, that is simply not the case. Studies from the AAA Foundation indicate that teens who were enrolled in Drivers ed courses had fewer automobile accidents than those who did not. As a result, Drivers ed has reduced the number of crashes by 4.3% and decreased convictions by 40%, saving thousands of lives across the States. Drivers ed may seem pricey at first, but the program offers a number of ways to make up for the cost. And in any case, ensuring the safety and well-being of our future generation should be more than worth it in the end.

Another way to decrease the number of car-related accidents is by following the common rules associated with the road. The first rule is to be aware of your surroundings. People have caused a number of accidents because they couldn’t put down their cell phones. Which leads me to the second rule, put down your phone when you drive. This can be hard at times due to our increasing dependency upon our mobile phones, but following this rule can save you from the jarring end of a head on collision. And finally my third rule, respect the speed limit. This is mostly for teenagers, but some adults have carried on the bad habit of speeding after school. As a teenager myself, I understand the reckless nature that's born within us, But that does not excuse me or any other teenager to speed. By following these rules we can make driving on the road safer for everyone.

I’ve never been in a wreck, however, I’ve had a number of situations where my family or friends put themselves at risk when they drive. This would either be caused by their incessant need to use social media, or simply speeding to get somewhere in a quicker fashion. This would mostly be my friends because, like I said before, teenagers have a reckless nature born within that forces them to test the boundaries that hold them back. So do me a favor if you are one of them, try not push yourself to hard.

` There is one rule I need to stress more than any other, and that is being aware of your surroundings. I have had issues where I either get lost or miss a car that I didn’t see and almost cause a wreck in the process. By following this rule I not only make it safer for myself to drive, but for others as well.
