It is important to take driver education to reduce the number of deaths as a result of driving because it teaches basic rules to drive and it gives people the confidence they need to drive. If someone is a confident driver, then they won’t constantly be worried about other things and they will drive comfortably. This is much safer because the driver can focus on the road. With this focus, it will reduce the number of preventable accidents and deaths. The steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving are to stay confident, focused on the road, wear a seatbelt, avoid driving under the influence, and to keep electronic devices away. Staying confident will relax your mind and body, and it will give you time to react. If you are constantly worried about your driving and an accident were to occur, you would be preoccupied with what you were already worrying about. So, the best way to drive is confidently, but also, safely. I have never had the experience of being in a car accident, however, I have witnessed one first hand. The driver of one of the vehicles was intoxicated and when they swerved off the road, they overcorrected and lost control of their truck. Then, they ran into another vehicle, a small car, and two lives were lost at the scene. To make matters worse, none of the passengers in the truck were wearing their seat belts. Seeing this accident made me become a more alert driver. I am a confident driver, but I am also always watching what is going on around me. The steps that I can take to be a better and safer driver are to continue doing what I am doing. I don’t use my phone while driving, I always were my seatbelt and I am always looking ahead to make sure everything is still safe. I believe that in order for others to become safer on the road, they need to realize that their life is more important than a phone call. Especially when the driver is intoxicated, they need to step up and ask for a ride home. No one will be affected by this, but they will definitely be affected if the driver lost their life because they didn’t want to ask for a ride home. Becoming safer on the road isn’t just for the driver of a vehicle, it is also for the driver on the other side of the road. Think of it as preventing unnecessary deaths.
