Once a person sits behind the wheel of a car, they are given a huge responsibility that is not to be taken lightly. Driving can be very beneficial in many ways, but it can also be dangerous and scary for those who do not proceed with caution. It is important to help educate people on the laws and rules of driving, as well as the statistics related to it, to show people how dangerous they can be when the rules are not followed. When driving a car it is important to educate people on the number of deaths so that they can keep themselves and others safe, reduce the number of deaths related to driving, and ensure responsibility by the wheel.
Driver's ed is an excellent program that is required in only 31 states. This program teaches teens about how to drive safely, the rules of driving, and the consequences they may face if they do not drive responsibly. I am a student driver who lives in Nevada. Before I received my license I was required to take 40 hours of a Driver's Ed class. In this class, we watched several videos on the effects of irresponsible driving. We watched many accidents relating to driving under the influence and texting and driving and it shook me to my core. I realized how just a small mistake can affect not only my own life but the lives of others around me. Driver education has taught many teens including myself and shown them statistics and facts about the amount of deaths caused by reckless driving. Knowing the statistics is very powerful in influencing people to be safe while they drive which in the end reduces the number of deaths in driving accidents.
Reducing the number of deaths causing car accidents can be a really simple fix. Educating teenagers and encouraging them to put their phones away and not do underage drinking is huge. Even teaching adults not to drink and drive is an effective way to reduce the number of deaths. By human nature people naturally break the rules and so it is impossible to fully stop this from happening in our world. But if we start by creating awareness and showing people real-life situations and consequences caused by these actions can tug at their hearts and help them not want to cause any more deaths. Making more public awareness and requiring teens in all states not just 31 to take a Driver's Ed class and learn about this will save many lives.
I have never been in a huge car accident but there was one time when I did make a mistake in my driving. I was pulling out of my driveway to go to school early in the morning and I forgot one major step. I forgot to look back and see if there were any cars behind me. Normally there were never any cars parked across the street but this one time there were. By making this mistake I ended up hitting the car and having to pay the price and the damage I created. The people who owned the car were very understanding and forgiving and I learned a very valuable lesson that day. Always be careful when driving and never forget the responsibility that is given when you sit behind the wheel of a car. I know many people have experienced different levels of crashes whether it was themselves or somebody they knew but either way, this can really affect a person. It can shake people up and can cause conflicts within families or between the person you have been in a crash with. Driver's education is a great way to help prevent accidents having to do with driving under the influence and texting and driving by educating people on how to be responsible and drive safely.
A saying often said in life is with great power comes great responsibility. With driving we are given a lot of responsibility when we are put behind the wheel. It is important to educate not only ourselves but others and show what reckless driving can really do. Driving is a huge part of our world and nobody wants to take a life by driving recklessly. When driving a car it is important to educate people on the number of deaths so that they can keep themselves and others safe, reduce the number of deaths related to driving, and ensure responsibility by the wheel. By doing all of these things we will be putting safer drivers on the road and hope to reduce the risk of death that occur every year because of reckless driving.
