It
is evident that there is a major issue that Americans tend to
disregard. Driving while under the influence of alcohol is an ongoing
problem that must be stopped. Every second there is someone killed or
getting injured because of this type of reckless behavior. Although
people try to have a fun time without worries, having this mentality
can cause more harm than good. To reduce the number of fatalities or
injuries from drunk driving, implementing a few rules would be a
start on the right path.

As
we know, most driving accidents occur during the night because people
usually go out during that time. Since this fact is known, I feel
that it should be a law for public places to have a set time when
they stop serving alcoholic beverages. Most people are not as fully
hype as they become when night falls, which causes a lot of problems.
Another action that can be taken would be up to the state. If people
want to drink at their discretion, public places should provide taxi
or Uber contacts available for them to get home safely. If more
drastic measures needed to be taken, the implementation of police
officers checking the BAC of every individual leaving public places
should happen.

Although
there will always be individuals who don’t care about the
consequences and what to have fun in the moment, making sure they are
safe as well as others is important. We need to break the cycle of
reckless, selfish behavior, and come together in hopes of resolving a
major issue.
