There are three main
ways of learning: visual, kinesthetic, and auditory. As proven in
various studies, the most effective way for an individual to learn
new information is learning a given concept in all three ways-seeing,
feeling, and hearing.


One amazing aspect
of drivers ed courses is that they use all three of these
types of learning to help reinforce the information the new driver is
learning. It is vital that the society as a whole helps to reinforce
these ideals in order to make the road a safer place for everyone. As
an individual who has experienced the effects of reckless driving,
careful and responsible driving is extremely important to me. When
young drivers take drivers ed courses, they are able to
learn all of the safety aspects of driving, without even stepping
into a vehicle. This makes the transitional process of beginning to
drive much easier. Soon enough, many young drivers have the skill-set
necessary in order to safely operate their vehicle, which makes
driving not only safer for them, but also for everyone else on the
road.


However, although
many young drivers have the skill-set and knowledge to safely drive,
many of them will experience their first accident shortly after they
begin driving. And many times, the root cause of the accident is
distracted driving. Whether that be a cell phone, a good song, or
some friends in the car. It is crucial we further address the idea of
distracted driving, and work to teach young drivers how to avoid
distracted driving.


Personally, I
believe the best way to become a better, and safer, driver is to
implement self control while driving. Self control while driving can
manifest in many different ways: controlling yourself to not pick up
your phone, controlling yourself to not yell at the driver who just
cut you off, controlling yourself to not drink or take drugs before
driving. By implementing more self control in our driving routines,
the road will be filled with less anger, and more responsible and
safe drivers.
