To reduce the number of casualties, we would need knowledge behind the cause of casualties. Most cases states within America that the lading factor of car accidents are due to speeding, drunk driving, and distractions. To reduce the number of accidents is to enforce the laws, and polices. Insurance companies and the police should enforce driving safety, to encourage those to improve safety habits on the road Another can be to encourage the use of seatbelts to not only yourself but to others, as it can diminish the high chance of dying or greater injury.
There were many stories of my family being in car accidents when I was younger. The story occurred during my elementary year as my mother was in a car accident. From what she recalled she was attempting a U-turn to go down the street until a truck hit the back of her car. She told me she was glad to have a seat belt on otherwise it would be worse than just hurting her back. From the story my mother told me, one thing she mentioned was that her seatbelt was on; which some drivers neglect to memorize. Because she had her seatbelt on it prevented a more serious injury to herself. I still have fear of the road, and even now as an adult, I feel as if I’m not ready. I will continue to learn at a pace to improve as a driver. As someone who is learning to drive and will be on the road soon, the one thing I can do to ensure I am a safer driver is to be mindful of my actions, intentional in being a safe driver, responsible, and aware of the consequences for unsafe driving.
