.
Drivers ed is extremely important when it comes to reducing the
number of deaths as a result of driving. The rules of the road are
set in place for the purpose of safety and not following them is
dangerous for every driver on the road. Not knowing basic traffic
laws, or ignoring basic traffic laws, results in accidents that could
have been easily avoided. It is also important to teach basic
defensive driving skills so that those who do have drivers ed
know how to react appropriately when someone is not following the
rules of the road and are prepared for any situation.

.
Following traffic laws (speed limits, stopping at stop signs and red
lights, proper merging/lane changing protocol, not driving while
under the influence) is obviously the best way to reduce the number
of driving related deaths. However, not everyone is going to follow
driving laws. In that case, those who are caught driving
irresponsibly should have to go through drivers ed programs to
prevent any further incidents.

.
. I am a new driver but my father who works in the court always
remind me that is a privilege to have your driver's license. Treat it
with the same respect that you treat your family members. I tell all
of my friends that have cars and drive irresponsible to either slow
down or "you are going too fast.
.
Being a safe driver includes being aware of and following traffic
laws. Things as small as forgetting to turn your blinker on while
changing lanes can result in accidents. Always be aware of your
surroundings, stay alert, and don’t drive distracted, whether it be
from substances, lack of sleep, cell phones, or daydreaming. Make
sure your vehicle is in working condition and isn’t a hazard in any
way. Learn basic defensive driving skills to try and avoid accidents
as a result of reckless drivers to the best of your ability. When
you’re a passenger, try to apply the same amount of alertness as
you would if you were the driver.
