Almost
every day, innocent young teenagers are being ripped from the world
due to reckless driving. When the dust settles fingers are always
being pointed at the youngest blaming them, however it is fault on
both sides. As the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
explains, “1.5 million people die in the road each year, on average
3,287 deaths a day.” With the potential to save lives and
ultimately minimize the death toll within America, it is imperative
that today’s question is presented, “What steps can be taken to
reduce deaths in car crashes.” The answer is to promote awareness
to the general public. This can be dissected in 2 steps. First by
introducing a more aggressive advertisement campaign. Second, by
implementing a harsher punishment for breaking traffic laws.
Introducing
an aggressive advertisement campaign has long been the goal of the
government. The reason this hasn’t worked in the past is because of
the lack of reach. However, if the campaigning was to be mirrored of
those of E-cigarettes, then it would possible have a tremendous
impact.
By
introducing a really harsh punishment is will simply act as an
deterrence for those who simply wish to do these crimes that possible
put people in harms way. So the deterrence factor will be a massive
crackdown and enforcement. A possible solution in a system where
citizen can report each other. Though this will turn on people’s
worst sides it will possible create a society that will foster and
nurture each other to be better.

At
the end of the day, by introducing an aggressive advertisement
campaign and enforcement it is possible to change the death rates of
young Americans and ultimately save lives.
