In a perfect world, everyone would be the perfect driver, but we are all more human than we would like to admit. More than once I have experienced being in a car with an irresponsible driver. There will be times where I will be in a car and the driver will not be properly paying attention to the road. They will be too focused on the music and the people in the car, sometimes eating or focusing on their phone instead of the road. It gives me an unsafe feeling. I know that being a safe driver means to follow a set of rules, set in place to protect you and those around you. In order to be a safer driver, follow the rules of driving on and off the road. Meaning to alway have your blinker on and to look (fully) before making a turn or switching lane. Always have both hands on the wheel in a position that allows a full grip of the wheel at all times. Monitor the mirrors and the sides of the car, watching for any cars merging lanes, and for anyone being an unsafe driver. Keep the eyes forward and know where you need to be when driving, don’t make sudden merges or switches which can cause accidents. Last but not least, encourage the same behavior in your friends and family. By doing this, you create a positive habit and environment where they can feel safer when driving.
