The Dangers of Driving

One of the many things a teenager look forward to is getting their driver's licence, but many are unaware of the different dangers of the road. In a teenager’s mind, they do not think about the different risk of the road. Instead, they only think about the freedom they are given; being unaware of the increasing number of accidents involving teenagers. Unfortunately, a lot of teenagers learn their lesson of the dangers first hand. Many of these lack of awareness could be blamed on drivers ed being online, and not having a proper example of a tragedy on the road.

With the advances of technology, teenagers are no longer getting the proper drivers ed. Having classes online has only caused teenagers easier ways of not doing the proper education. With the introduction of online classes, students are able to fly through three months of education in three hours. This makes these teenagers not getting the proper drivers ed they need to be safe on the road. With this lack of education, the number of car accidents involving teenagers has only increased. To help reduce this scary increasing numbers of death on the roads; online drivers education needs to be better run. The teenager should not just be able to tap on their phones to move to the next section. They should have something to read to them, and be unable to move on until that voice is done talking. This would insure that the students gets all the information they need for a proper education. With this better education from the online classes; there would be a decrease of accidents. Making the roads a little safer.

Of course, it does take more than some drivers ed to truly have a teenager think about the risk. Being a teenager myself, I did not give much thought to the warnings of my diver’s education. When reading about the dull risk given to me; I did not think much about it. Even when I gave it some thought, I would just neutralize those thoughts. Never believing that it could happen to me. It took me getting into a car accident to finally understand what could happen. A month of getting my license; I get rear ended because I was not paying attention to my surroundings. Luckily, neither me or the other person got hurt, but this could of ended worse. Me or the other driver could have been seriously injured or killed. This experience of being part of a car accident has made me more wary when on the roads, and made me a safer driver. Though, if during my driver’s education they have given me a more detailed example of a car accident, from not paying attention, I may of always had that wariness. Giving a teenager a boring example will not have it stick with them. Having a more troubling thought about a topic will have a lasting effect. That is what my car accident has left me with. Making me a better driver because of it.

Now that I have a better understanding of the road, does not make it risk free. Having myself check my mirrors and my surroundings only makes me a better driver. Other drivers, including adults, need to be wary of their surroundings. If everyone pays attention to the road, instead of a text from a sweetheart, the number of car accidents will get a major hit. If we are take steps in checking our mirrors, looking both ways, and looking around yourself that would make a big difference. By just paying attention to the roads, we can see a car swerve and avoid it. This would prevent many unnecessary car accidents. Teenagers are the worst when it comes to that. Instead of watching the road, they are texting, messing with their air pods, or talking to someone in the car. If we can have teenagers keep their phone in their backpack, their aid pods out of their ears, and not focus onto a conversation with someone they would be safer drivers. It takes all of us to be paying attention for the roads to be safer.

Driving on the road is the biggest trust fall of them all. We are trusting others not to run into us. Though that trust is getting smaller each generation with the increase of car accidents. Having teenagers with a poorly run online education will only continue this distrust. By improving online drivers ed, and giving better examples students may finally understand. Having teenagers with a better understanding of the dangers of the road will help decrease the risk of the road. Then we will have safer roads.
