The
Fundamentals of safe driving
We
have always been told since riding in a car for the very first time
that seatbelts are important, what we didn’t think about was the
other important factors of safe driving. There are tons and tons of
car accidents happening everyday and it could be the smallest factors
in place of why they happen but it’s very important to address
them.

The
number one thing people seem to forget is checking your phone or even
quickly texting is very dangerous. It’s in commercials, you can see
it scrolling through your feed on social media, and also people or
loved ones will tell you all the time that texting and driving is
very bad. Most of the times, people just shrug it off as “That’ll
never happen to me” or “im really careful about doing it”, but
they don’t understand that it could only happen in a matter of
seconds and yes it can happen to anyone! An effective way to resist
the temptation of looking at your phone when driving is to download a
safe driving app that disables use of your phone or go into your
phone settings and turn on driving mode.

Another
thing to take into consideration for safe driving is being attentive
to your surroundings. A lot of us either drive with friends/family in
the car or do something silly such as eating while driving. Even
though these things are very minor, it could be just a matter of a
car accident or not. There is no law however against eating while
driving or simply talking while you are driving but there is a law
about careless driving. When the minor things you think it’s not
much of a big deal while driving can be a result of something
traumatic happening to you or someone else on the road. Ways to help
with this is if you are going to eat, try not to eat a full course
meal of course in the car but just a very subtle snacks such as chips
or a granola bar. Another way it could be helpful for careless
driving is when talking to someone who is in the same car as you,
make sure to keep full attention and focus on the road. Always make
sure your eyes never leave the sight of the road in front of you, if
you need to, try telling the person you are talking to to remind you
to always pay attention if you get caught off guard.
