“Imagine a world where every time you get behind the wheel, you are not just responsible for your own life, but also the lives of everyone around you. Thats the power and responsibility of driving. Driver education plays a crucial role in this reality, serving as the foundation for equipping new drivers with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the roads safely. With comprehensive training that covers traffic laws, vehicle operation, and defensive driving techniques, driver education is a vital tool in reducing the tragic toll of the road fatalities. By instilling a sense of responsibility and awareness in drivers from the start, we can create safer roads and save countless lives.”
The importance of driver education in reducing the number of deaths as a result of driving is crucial. A big step that the United States has taking is by enforcing a certain type of driver education before taking their driving test. They use these major websites like DMVEdu.org and other websites that serve the same purpose. A major portion of deaths that are caused by wrecks are caused by beginning drivers. Beginning drivers start off as scared and a little confused while driving, and then when they start to warm up to the subject they begin to relax, be less cautious, easily distracted by their phones, and etc. All these can easily cause a car wreck that is fatal in less than a second. I have a close friend that was in a very bad accident that could have been fatal instantly. Her and her significant other were on their way home from coming from town, and her significant other was behind the wheel. They were only a few miles from her house before they crashed too. The guy was on this small backroad and all of a sudden a deer jumped out from the brush line and jumped out in front of them. The driver had a sudden reaction to jerk the wheel in the opposite direction from where the deer came from. Causing them to head straight into this three foot ditch and causing them to roll twice and land on the roof of the car. Thankfully her and her significant other came out of the wreck with a few scratches and a minor concussion. As I processed all of this I wanted to take this as a big learning experience through out my time driving.
There are numerous ways and steps to reduce the number of deaths along with better habit or learning experiences to help better your bad driving habits and experiences all together. Many people go out and drive recklessly because they are letting their emotions get to them, people driving while they are exhausted, getting distracted easily by your phone are some out of the many things that people have done that have caused unsafe driving habits. Another major habit is drinking. Drunk driving has caused at least thirty one percent of the death rate from fatal car crashes. Cutting out alcohol from your diet is amazing because then you wont be tempted to go out and drive intoxicated. I know of someone that had recently gotten into an accident because they were intoxicated. They went out to a party to go out and have fun and all but he had a friend saying that he would not drink and he would be able to take them home because he needed to be somewhere the next morning. Unfortunately, that friend went back on their word so they sat around trying to sober back up to drive home, and left whenever he felt like he could drive home. On their way back home they managed to fall asleep behind the wheel or could not see straight they ended up hitting another vehicle in the process. Sadly this person served as a security gard at the local jail and was well known, but unfortunately they passed away shortly after the accident. This person did get charges pressed against them and had incredibly injuries himself. Choosing to do dumb stuff before or during your drive is a massive accident waiting to happen.
In conclusion, maintaining good driving habits in not about following the rules; it is about you being cautious and aware that once you turn on your car and are the road that you put the risk of your life along with everyone else’s on the road. Good habits like staying alert, following the speed limit, and driving not intoxicated minimize the risk of accident to allow you to reach to your next destination safely.
