Driver education is important in reducing the number of deaths as a result of driving because the student learns the rules of the road and the basic features of a car. When taking a driver education course, students learn all the statistics and consequences of reckless driving and how to prevent getting into such situations. By the instructor presenting videos of people who have lost loved ones to irresponsible driving tactics or been involved in a situation where they were drinking and driving and harmed others, the student can engage with the video. The videos provide reinforcement of the grave consequences of irresponsible or reckless driving by the student observing the video and hearing the grieving family members, it reinforces the necessity of safe driving and driver education. The simplest answer to reduce the number of deaths related to driving is to obey traffic laws, avoid alcohol and drug consumption, and be well rested before you get behind the wheel. However, it becomes much more complicated when peer pressure is a factor. Numerous adolescents are often persuaded into dangerous situations such as drinking and driving, but it can be avoided if they realized the consequences.According to statistics, every day almost 30 people in the United States die in drunk driving crashes, which is one person every 50 minutes. Every year approximately 10,000 people die in the United States from drunk driving crashes. Drivers education teaches students all the different fines, jail time, and repercussions they could receive if they are pulled over with any alcohol in their system. It is a bit different with anybody over the age of 21 because as long as their blood alcohol level is under .08%, they are less susceptible to severe consequences. Moreover, all distractions should be avoided while driving including cell phones, navigation systems, eating, passengers, and any other activity that would divert the drivers attention. When a person is driving they should be focused on the road and making sure to obey all traffic laws.
Although I have been very fortunate to never be in a car accident, some of my peers drive irresponsibly. They are easily distracted when checking their phone, changing the radio, adjusting the air condition, or even focusing solely on our conversation. Some of my family members have also been in accidents and it could have been easily avoided. You can avoid getting into an accident and putting others in danger by following traffic laws and being a cautious and safe driver. It is easy to get distracted while driving, but driver's education teaches you how to become more aware of your surroundings, become a defensive driver, avoid all distractions and be the best and most safe driver possible. Defensive driving is when the driver is aware of their surroundings and watching the movement of other vehicles in the area in order to anticipate a dangerous or potentially dangerous situation and be able to react in time to avoid danger. Steps I can take to be a better and safer driver are avoiding all distractions, paying attention to traffic, and obeying all traffic laws. I can encourage my peers to be safe drivers by educating them on the consequences of reckless driving as well as being a good example for them. The best way to influence others is by showing them how to be a superb driver.
