Understanding the relationship between car and man is very important. We are operators of machinery that is very heavy and dangerous to operate. Understanding why it’s important to drive carefully and safely can be the difference between life and death. The steps I can take to reduce the number of deaths is by spreading awareness. People who have gone through or lost people in car crashes tell their stories every day on social media, they talk about the pain and the loss that they had to go through because of someone who wasn’t driving safely. Telling your story can help reach so many people, specifically young drivers who just got a driver's license, as they are excited and eager to get on the road. Everything can change in just a matter of seconds; one mistake, and your life might never be the same. I have a friend who lost both of her parents in a car crash. There was a truck, and they weren’t paying attention and crashed head-on into the truck; they both lost their lives instantly. Although my friend had nothing to do with the crash, all the pain and suffering from the crash was put onto them, they no longer had their parents, it was a really difficult time in their life and everyone was there to support them, but nothing can replace the love and support a parent can give you. When she tells her story, people realize how precious life is, how you should never take life for granted, always cherish and value those around you, but more importantly to cherish your life, and when you’re on the road driving, to be careful because one mistake can cost you everything, the life you created and built could come crashing down in mere moments. Unfortunately in my experiences, my girlfriend has often driven whilst under the influence, while it is her choice to do so and I can’t control her actions, it terrifies me every time she does that, she doesn’t fully understand the danger she is putting herself in every time she decided to drive under the influence. Not only could she potentially crash and lose her life, but she could also get pulled over and arrested for a DUI, which can have very negative impacts on her life. The best way I try to get her to realize what she’s doing is by telling her just how much her life means to me, how she’s impacted my life, and how in a world where she isn’t here, it wouldn’t be the same. That goes for every important individual in my life as well, I make sure that they would never do something like that if I can help it. I value every life, not just those who are close to me, every life has a purpose, a reason for being there. Every life is closely connected to at least one other person, when someone decided to drive irresponsibly and the end up getting severely hurt or losing their lives, they aren’t just hurting their body and theirselves, but they are hurting every single person who has ever cared and been there for them in their life. A lot of people don’t think about this when they recklessly drive, especially with other people in the car. not only are you putting yourself at risk, but you are putting the lives of others at risk as well, someone’s child, brother, girlfriend, boyfriend, etc. I’ve lost people close in my life, and the feeling is a hard one to move on from; it’s not a feeling anyone likes to feel. And if I could prevent someone from losing their life, I would do everything in my power to keep that from happening. A lot of people don’t see the value in life, and a lot of people are going through something and don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. The steps I took to become a better driver was to start driving the speed limit, I wasn’t always a safe driver; I found it very fun and exciting to go exceedingly fast on the highways. I even had a few close calls where I could have lost my life. I also used to be very impatient and would want to get to mt destination as fast as possible. I then realized that I’d rather get there late than to never arrive there at all. I realized that even if I speed and cut up on the highway, the cars that are going the speed limit will only be behind me by a minute or two, I was never really saving time at all, I was just putting my life at risk because of my impatience and eagerness to get from one place to another. The way I would convince others to drive safely would be by showing them how speeding doesn’t save them much time and telling them how easily it is to lose your life in a car crash when going at high speeds. Life is precious, and everyone deserves to live long, happy lives, so that’s why everyone should drive safely and always look both ways!
