Education, as Google puts it, means “the act of teaching knowledge to others and the act of receiving knowledge from someone else.” With this we gain the skills necessary to improve in many aspects of the world. Have you ever been educated by someone or something that gave you a new perspective to improve yourself or help others improve? How has that made a changed?



A time I would say I received an important type of education was when I became a driver. When I was a teenager just starting to drive, I thought the knowledge of being a driver was just common sense, but when I got on the road with both hands on the wheel and driving with others, I realized it was more than that. It’s about learning how to protect your life and the lives of others. It wasn’t just about staying within the white lines and turning the wheel with one hand over the other; no, it was about putting your mind to it, having your eyes, ears, and mind open. Things can change in the blink of an eye. Being distracted can land you 10 years in jail or even death. Every year we have seen that the number of deaths caused by drivers increase. Moving on, what is the importance of road safety education in reducing the number of deaths due to driving?The important thing to use that will help reduce the number of deaths is using all the information given as it will help everyone know how to drive and how to take responsibility as it is very important for everyone throughout life. We have seen how to improve vehicle safety in order to survive an accident or to be able to come out unscathed and it is not just about this, we also have to educate ourselves to drive better and protect ourselves and other people. Learning the way our vehicle drives and acts on itself, gives us a clue on how to better manage it. For example, if we know our steering wheel isn’t straight then bringing it to a car shop is a good way to prevent accidents. Not having a stable car can lead us to lose control of it and once we lose control of it what happens? We have accidents. The second thing to know would be how your environment works. Everything around us can turn into our enemy within a second. So connecting one on one with our surroundings and learning how it works can help prevent accidents. For example, if we know on 5th street is the start of a school zone would we drive by going 60mph? Absolutely not! We know that we most go slow and steady, but do most people follow it? Sometimes not. That is why educating people about their surroundings is very important. With this type of information we can reduce the mortality rate of deaths and avoid being victims of traffic accidents. We have to try to teach as much information as possible. I know that at first there will not be many changes but if this remains constant, more significant changes will soon be seen.



But knowing the importance of road safety isn’t all there is to it. NO! It is actually putting it into action.
Measures that can be taken to reduce the number of driving related deaths would be to provide courses on how to drive properly, make stricter laws to prevent anyone from committing a road accident, try to keep the roads patrolled and encourage people to drive properly so that everyone can reach their destinations or their families safely, and make sure that they are in a state of mind before driving so that they are not drunk or under the influence of any substance as this is also one of the leading causes of accidents worldwide and it harms everyone. Unfortunately, as some people in the world have had the experience of traffic accidents in which they have been affected by being the victim of an irresponsible driver, I myself have been a victim and it is an enormously traumatic experience since it is something that never crosses the mind of someone who is going to be involved in an accidentMy accident happened when I was younger and we were going to buy some things for the house. During the journey, when we were leaving a street, the driver coming from the right side did not brake and hit us from the side, causing the car to lose control and we went off the road. Luckily, there was only financial damage..



I know that we can all be better drivers and the things that I can improve can be having my car in perfect mechanical condition and having it constantly in its services so that I can drive safely and without having a mechanical breakdown and affecting others, also respecting the speed limits and keeping a correct distance from vehicles, taking the exits on time and being in a perfect mental and physical states. With this I can improve the road and make sure everyone arrives safely and everything is safer because if all these changes are not taken advantage of and one of these things is not used correctly, it can trigger a domino effect where everything that was attempted to be changed becomes a danger again.
