Bright
lights flashed in my eyes blinding my view as I felt my heart beating
out of my chest. Within seconds my whole life had been turned upside
down as I watched a collision between to cars occur right in front of
me. Driving, a task that is so simple, but yet can become detrimental
if you make one little mistake. The importance of drivers ed in
reducing the number of deaths as a result of driving is if people are
not educated the will not understand what could happen if they make
even the slightest mistake while driving. The steps that can be taken
to reduce the number of deaths related to driving are educating more
people and getting the word out there. Driving can become
dangerous!!! Although I have not been in a car accident I have seen
multiple car accidents occur, and the steps I can take to become a
better and safer driver include educating myself on the real risks of
driving as well as making sure I'm always taking every safety
precaution such as wearing my seatbelt and not playing my music loud.

Several
years ago I was driving with my sister to get food. I was in the
passenger seat and my sister was driving when a semi-truck pulled out
and cut the car in front of us off. Luckily we were far enough away
so we were able to stop in time, but the driver and passenger in
front of us died on the scene. I still remember how I felt and can
recall every second of that incident. Although I wasn’t involved it
changed my life forever. Because I wasn’t educated very well when
it came to the number of deaths that can result from car accidents
this accident made me think a lot more about all of the decisions I
was making before I made them. Today people don’t fully understand
the reality of safe driving because they aren’t educated and don’t
fully understand the consequences of the littlest mistakes when
driving.

The
steps that can be taken to help educate people better is getting the
word out. We could broadcast to people of the radio and tv. We could
go to schools and speak. Word of mouth is vital when it comes to
issues like this. If we can get even one person to listen that would
be vital to the success of educating people because that one person
will go tell other people and so on and so forth.

As
mentioned I earlier I have no been in a car accident, but I have seen
a car accident. This changed me for the rest of my life. My eyes were
opened and I was aware of the things I could do better as a driver.
Such as buckling my seatbelt, not blasting my music, and driving
within the speed limit. Following the regulations set by your state
for driving is important as they are there to keep you safe.
