“One moment of patience may ward off a great disaster, one moment of impatience may ruin a whole life”. Driving is something that I love, it provides an outlet to just get out of your head and focus on something greater than your life problems. Driving allows me to escape when I have hard time. It also provides me with goos memories of good music, drive in movies, and late night ice cream dates. On the other hand, driving can change a life in just a moment. I never thought I would get into an accident but this narrative changed when one day on the way to school it happened. I was taking a left turn and that's where things were bad. My car was totaled that I had just got two weeks earlier, but thankfully I and everyone else was ok. This was one of the scariest moments in my life, if I would’ve been a few inches out I would have been dead. This accident really made me more cautious and patient in the car and with my surroundings. I think that driver's training is very important and you really need to pay attention in the class. It teaches you the basics of driving but also what you should do if you get into an accident. The people who lie about their hours are the ones who are causing a lot of issues on the road. Being a student and talking to others around me I have found out that people are not really paying attention. Some of my friends do not even know how to drive without a backup camera. Being in high school I know of at least one accident that happens a month involving a student. The sad thing is that a lot of these students do not even care and still drive recklessly. Drivers training is not the funnest thing, especially when all you want to do is get your license. I think a lot of people take advantage of what information it could really teach you. One way that we could maybe improve this is find a way to get people more involved with in the classroom. I also think that there should be a way to divide up the information so it is not so much or so overwhelming at a time in the class. There is a app called booklet and quizzes, I think these would be a great tool to allow students to study for the test and learn other than just paper assignments. Some of the ways I think we could reduce the number of deaths is take the class seriously, find a way to make phones not a distraction, be aware of your driving skills and if you need help ask, take a more in depth road test, and there is so much more. I wish there was a way that everyone could take a test to realize their down falls and the be able to build on them to get better. The hardest thing that I feel like a lot of people struggle with including myself is respect for other on the road. Its the fact that we all need to realize that there is other people and how dangerous it could actually be. Also I think that I need to be more aware on the road and not feel anxious when there is someone behind me. My biggest downfall is trying to rush so other drivers will not get mad. I need to take care of myself first and if I have to wait an extra minute before pulling out then I will. I need to be less worried about myself and not worry if others are in too much of a rush. Sometimes you have to be the one in a situation to take control and be safe to prevent any accidents. The hard thing about driving is you never know what the people around you are going to do. I think that I need to be more aware of others and try to predict what is going to come next in a situation. All in all I think everyone needs to not take driving for granted and sit back and think about how they can improve their and others safety while driving. It is your own responsibility to realize that it is not just you out there. Actions have consequences and what you really do could have an effect on your and others lives.
