Want to be a skillful and safe driver? Well, driving awareness plays an important part in reducing the number of deaths. So, let’s get started by taking a Drivers education course which gives you the knowledge and guidance needed. Learn the rules of the road from the street signs to the lines in the road, signals, changing lanes, setting and using your mirrors correctly, parking and so much more. Taking a driver’s education course starts you on the journey to becoming a skilled and confident driver. Then taking a driving class helps to implement and refine what you learned providing a greater level of comfort.
When you’re on the road you must be an offensive as well as a defensive driver. There are various techniques that we can incorporate and use to reduce the number of deaths related to driving. First, I recommend reading the manual of the car to learn how everything functions and its purpose. For instance, a large percentage of people get into accidents when it rains. Familiarizing oneself with the manual for the car can teach you key things such as how to use the wipers under various weather conditions, how to turn on the fog lights, how to set the air for the front and rear windows to clear the glass from the fog. Turning on the lane guidance to alert the driver if they are drifting into another lane and while a light flashes to signal drivers in the next lane. Many drivers nod off and/or fall asleep at the wheel. have more rest stops on the highway that allows drivers to rest if needed. Speed signals on the highway indicate whether or not a car is traveling beyond the speed limit. Speed cameras that give a ticket if drivers are commuting more than 5-7 miles per hour above the speed limit.
One of the scariest experiences was being in a car accident. My dad was driving the family home late one evening. My two siblings and I were in the back row fast asleep. The next thing I felt was something slam against the front of the car that violently woke us up. I saw my mom’s hand stretch across the front seats to protect us. The car swerved into the next lane and felt like it was on two wheels. I was in a panic and thought for sure we were going to hit something else. Hearts were racing with different levels of screams. Once the car was finally on four wheels and came to a stop in the next lane. The three of us anxiously and nervously asked our parents what happened. A deer had stepped out from the middle patch of grass on the highway. One of us looked back and saw the deer get up to walk away. It was so late at night thankfully there were no other cars on the road at the time. At that point we were all wide awake after that.
Thinking about the steps that could be taken to be a better and safer driver as well as helping others become safer on the road, I came up with a few ideas. Lights that bend with the curve which allows the driver to see what’s up ahead. Infrared light or waves that you can turn on to create an alert on the dashboard once it detects warm objects such as animals and humans ahead of the car. Every car should have a Breathalyzer test for the driver. Cars will start to move once the driver and passengers have on their seat belts. If you are tailgating or driving too close to the car in front of you, it will start to make a sound and slow you down a bit. While cars have lane guidance and many other features, everyone should be required to take a defense course every year. Safety tips with virtual sessions that’s 15 minutes every quarter followed by a short quiz scoring 80% or higher provides a discount on the car insurance. This can be a motivator for people to want to achieve high results to be rewarded with benefits. Driving test every 2 years when you renew your license can be very essential to drivers, especially ones who are elderly to help prevent accidents from happening at such an old age. This strategy can differentiate people who need more practice on the road and those who pass the test. With these ideas and strategies people can design them to become efficient in the environment to help society change their ways of driving.
