Nowadays,
you see people driving on the road and think “how did they get
their
license?”
You see accidents on the road, people swerving into lanes, or passing
red traffic lights.

Without
proper education, people will remain ignorant to the rules and
traffic laws. According to the Association for Safe International
Road Travel, “Nearly 1.25 million people die in road crashes each
year, on average 3,287 deaths a day.” Many can be prevented very
easily, but many people decide to ignore normal precautions and drive
on their own will and rules. Proper education can help prevent many
of these traffic accidents.
I
would implement a proper Driver’s ED class into all high schools,
seeing as many young people drive, and it’s best to learn good
habits from an earlier age. For those who can drive and are older, I
believe that they should take a program every 5 years that encourages
safe driving. Maybe retake a drivers test every 6 years or so to
ensure that people are still able to drive safely on the road.

I
personally haven’t been in a car accident, but I know that one of
my aunt’s friends has. Her friend was driving quite normally and
had her three kids in the car. She stopped at a red light, but a
driver who was paying more attention to his phone than the road
didn’t happen to see the glaring red light and slammed into their
car. They mostly got out safe, except for her 4 year old, who has
been, and still is, in the hospital for about 5 months now.
Thankfully, none of them died, but being in a car accident will be
with them the rest of their lives.

Personally,
I try to drive as safely as I possibly can. I always use my turn
signals, turn on my lights when needed, never use my phone, but I
know that I have trouble focusing. I’m very easily distracted
whenever I’m doing anything, but it’s especially dangerous when
operating heavy machinery. What I do to concentrate on the road is to
put on some energetic (but not too
energetic) music that will help me get my head in the game. When I
see that someone I’m in the car with is driving a little
recklessly, I make sure to tell them so that they can keep their head
in the game and so that we have a smaller chance of something bad
happening to us.
