What
Is Safety In The Driver’s Seat?



Driver’s
education is very important in reducing the number of deaths that
occur due to driving because it allows those who wish to drive to
learn the safety rules, regulations, and precautions before getting
into a car and driving. It allows those drivers to further develop
their knowledge of safe driving and what not to do before they start
driving.

There
are many steps that drivers could take before they start their car
that would easily reduce the number of driving related deaths in
America. Before starting the engine of your car, either turn off your
phone, or turn it on Do Not Disturb, which is a little tool that will
silence the device fully but not turn it off. After this, make sure
that all your mirrors are perfect for your height and vision field.
Do not ever get into a car if you have had any alcohol or taken any
medication that will make you drowsy, as this can alter your
awareness. Make sure that you get plenty of sleep before driving or
operating a vehicle. There are many more minor steps that any
individual could take in order to reduce driving related deaths.


While
being in a car with someone, who I would prefer to leave unnamed, I
do notice sometimes that they are irresponsible when they get upset
due to another driver either cutting them off, breaking quickly in
front of them, not turning on their blinker until the driver slams on
the breaks to turn, etc. The person, the one I wish to keep unnamed,
I have noticed will either change lanes quickly and get close to the
car of the other person and give them dirty looks or when the person
is in front of them they will only slow briefly. I believe that this
is irresponsible driving because although the actions may not kill
the person, either person, it could injure them.


I
believe that I can take the steps already stated above: turning the
phone on silent, checking the mirrors, no alcohol in the system, not
taking drowsy medication and more. When I am driving I need to make
sure that I am fully paying attention to everything that is happening
around me. I need to make sure that I am using my blinkers when it is
necessary, slowing at the right times, etc. It is also important to
make sure that I am keeping others safe by not driving in any
reckless manner. When one person decides to drive safely, in this
case me, it can hopefully influence others to do so, and it protects
me all the more.
