Why driver education is important
When it comes to being safe on the road and preventing accidents there are many things that need to be taken into consideration. One of the most important things that people should care more about is driver education. It is important because it helps to teach individuals about road safety, driving laws, how to take the proper precautions while driving to prevent accidents, and how to protect oneself and others while on the road. Driver education can also prevent a great number of deaths that are a result of reckless and unsafe driving by helping make people more aware of the dangers that come with driving and how they can take the proper precautions that an individual needs to be safe while they are on the road.
There are many steps that can be taken to help prevent deaths that are related to driving accidents but there are some ways that stand out more than others. One of the ways to help prevent deaths that are a result of driving is to have more precautions around pedestrian areas such as crosswalks and bike lanes which can be especially dangerous for pedestrians. Having better safety measures around these areas such as more specifically designated bike lanes that are blocked off from the road and more traffic guards can help prevent pedestrian casualties as well as build pathways for pedestrians so that they don’t have to encounter cars as often. People should also have to go through general driving courses every several years so that they can show that they understand how to drive and so they can stay on top of driving laws and learn of changes that have been made to them and the new ones that have been put in place over the years. I also think it could be good to enforce somewhat stricter laws and punishments on people to discourage others from breaking said driving laws.
Well, I have only ever been in minor accidents throughout my life that mainly consisted of getting hit very lightly while I was in a car I have seen and heard stories of my other family members driving irresponsibly before. Growing up my father was a relatively reckless driver and he would get pulled over a lot for things like speeding. While I was growing up I never felt like he got more than a slap on the wrist and that he never really got proper repercussions for his bad behavior on the road especially since he continued to do it and would even at times act like he did not deserve a ticket. It also bothered me a lot especially since he would act like it was a completely normal thing to get speeding tickets regularly. One situation where this stuck out to me was how he laughed about how he had hit a light pole like it was a completely normal occurrence to take place. There was also a time when my uncle totaled his truck because he took his eyes off the road to grab an item that had fallen off of the passenger's seat. I was also warned growing up of the dangers of unsafe driving from stories about my older cousins and their driving. I also have worries about people texting and driving because I have seen many unsafe things happening in my high school parking lot since students and parents alike were not able to stay off of their phones which led to many problems.
I can be a better and safer driver in multiple ways. I can take the time to learn traffic laws so that I can practice them to the best of my ability. Make sure that I am aware of my surroundings when it comes to other cars and pedestrians to not get caught in an accident. I can also be a safe driver and encourage others to be safe drivers by making sure that safe driving practices are being used such as not driving under the influence and not driving if I am not in the proper state to drive. I will also not participate in unsafe practices such as texting and driving and I will work to keep distractions away from myself and others while I am driving. I will also be a safe driver by taking the proper precautions such as taking my car in for regular check-ups to make sure it is in good condition and making precautionary measures that are based on weather conditions such as getting chains for driving in the winter and being cautious well driving in other weather conditions.
